Terre-Heure-Logo-630 The International Energy Alliance is pleased to announce that it has established a team of IEA members who are tasked with implementing an Heure de la Terre event which targets energy use. Our goal for this event is to encourage others to add their voices to this worthwhile cause and to engage themselves in energy saving and sustainability efforts. Please suivez ce lien to explore thousands of past Earth Hour events conducted all around the world over the past six years that are fun, creative, inspirational and sometimes absolutely amazing.

Earth Hour takes place on the last Saturday of every March. Earth Hour for 2015 will take place on Saturday, March 28 from 8:30-9:30PM, during which time the IEA website will display a notice with information about Earth Hour. While this message is displayed, the IEA website will otherwise be at rest without any functionality. The notification is part of simultaneous worldwide efforts that encourage communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to symbolize their commitment to the planet.

Selon l' WWF, their “mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s nature environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by conserving the world’s biological diversity, ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable, and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.” This is very similar to the mission statement of the IEA with respect to energy issues, which is to educate the public from an apolitical standpoint on energy conservation and renewable / sustainable energy sources for purposes of preserving our environment.

The Earth Hour XCHARX60XCHARX logo above represents the 60 minutes of Earth Hour during which we focus on the impact we are having on our planet, and our plan to take positive actions to address the environmental issues we face. The Earth Hour XCHARX+XCHARX plus symbol encourages the idea that a positive act for the planet can go beyond the hour observed during Earth Hour.
